Taking Compassion to the Community

At the heart of every thriving society lies a sense of community and connection.

The Eucharia & Lawrence Unamba Helping Hand Foundation believes that reaching out to people with genuine compassion can do more than provide assistance — it can transform lives.

As part of its recent activities, the Foundation has carried out care package distribution to widows and the elderly, street outreach to vulnerable individuals, and grassroots engagement and encouragement.

The Foundation’s approach to community outreach recognizes that some people may be overlooked by society. Its brochure highlights examples such as widows struggling to provide for their children, children lacking basic resources for school and elderly people who may experience isolation.

The Foundation’s outreach programmes are built around four important pillars:

Empathy. Education. Empowerment. Equity.

The work also depends on people who are willing to serve. The Foundation describes its volunteers as the heartbeat of its vision, contributing through activities such as sharing a smile, distributing food supplies, organizing educational workshops and mentoring children.

Community outreach is therefore not simply about giving material assistance. It is about connecting with people, encouraging them and reminding them that their lives have value.
